CoE Cultural Route
![]()
The AGREE project is the first step for the consolidation of the Great Atlantic Explorations Cultural Route. This Atlantic Cultural Route will remain active after the project closure. Therefore, the partnership will test different approaches for territorial implementation and tourism and cultural heritage promotion which wouldn’t probably happened for a standard CoE Cultural Route candidature.
Capitalization
AGREE overall objective addresses the networking of the Great Atlantic Expeditions legacy. To date, this network dimension is missing so this project can be considered a unique opportunity to federate many territories around such a common Atlantic identity.
Therefore, the networking objective should be considered as a genuine Atlantic territorial common challenge. The need for a transnational strategy to tackle nautical expeditions has been widely confirmed during the preparation of the proposal.
Given this historical background, the creation of a cultural route for the great Atlantic expeditions is of unquestionable interest since it connects the past and present of Europe, its identity and its international relations.
The constitution of a CoE Cultural Route is also original as output for AA Cooperation programme capitalization. On the other side, AGREE improves the partners’ capacity building to provide and exchange strategies, tools, contents and other deliveries useful for the Cultural Route.
Transferibility
When addressing transferability of the main project outputs and deliverables, our first objective is related to the impacts on other Atlantic territories on sharing the same legacy regarding the great nautical expeditions.
The Cultural Route is itself a framework dedicated to implement a transnational strategy for tourism and cultural heritage. So as, it is open to new adhesions, which means to implement some of the project outputs and deliverables adapted to their specificity of their Atlantic territories.
Enlarging the Atlantic network will then be our first objective of capitalization. Due to the capitalization activities, the network set-up by the project will be growing during project lifetime and after the closure of the project. Therefore, a set of tools has been developed to be widely used by other target groups.
Join the network
The AGREE ad-on concept is meant for the integration of the local narratives into the global narrative related to the Great Atlantic Explorations legacy. This will allow a faster adaptation of local tourism and cultural heritage strategies.
Project AI tool is also designed for the open computation of the training data that enables models to be developed. We expect these tools to be easily adopted by the newcomers of the Atlantic Cultural Route. Most of the target territories for capitalization have already developed their strategy for tourism and cultural heritage linked to the nautical explorations.
The innovative approach behind the Council of Europe Cultural Route is based on their aggregation under a single pattern. Emphasis is placed on integrating existing policies as well as reusing existing resources. We hope this will mitigate any reluctances to initiate the adhesion to the Great Atlantic Explorations Cultural Route.
