The Monitoring Committee has approved 24 projects under the Third Call for proposals

During the Monitoring Committee meeting held on July 3, 2025, in Galway, Ireland, the Interreg Atlantic Area 2021-2027 approved 24 cooperation projects for funding under the Third Call for proposals. It represents an investment of 55 million Euros.

Out of the 80 applications received, 24 projects were selected for their excellence across the themes addressed in the call: blue innovation and competitiveness; blue and green environment; and blue sustainable and social tourism and culture.

Following the contractualization process, these investments will receive support from the Interreg Atlantic Area programme at a rate of 75%. Within the blue innovation and competitiveness theme, 6 projects were approved, with an estimated total value of 11,9 million Euros. These projects aim to promote training and advisory services for SMEs, foster sustainable economic growth in the algae-based biomass industry, support digital integration in the aquaculture sector, and facilitate prototyping activities. This will empower SMEs and startups while upskilling a new generation of professionals in the blue economy sector.

These initiatives focus on various challenges, including accelerating the deployment of wave energy systems, developing floating offshore wind technologies, providing solutions for ocean monitoring, promoting biodiversity conservation, and enhancing coastal risk prevention. Additional efforts will aim to reduce the pollution that rivers carry into the Atlantic Ocean, improve port-city integration based on the New European Bauhaus philosophy, and increase transparency and consumer trust in the Atlantic seafood sector.

For the blue sustainable and social tourism and culture theme, 5 projects were approved with a total estimated value of 11,6 million Euros. This support is directed towards developing new, sustainable, and inclusive tourist routes, preserving maritime heritage, and managing coastal tourist flows.
